Words are seed. The Word of God is a seed (Luke 8:11) so is the word of a man.
Every seed that is planted and does not immediately get uprooted or aborted begins to grow. The longer we wait to terminate its growth, the harder it will become and at some point in time it cannot be uprooted without great cost to the carrier.
As I turned to listen to a random teaching on Youtube by Robert Morris title, "STOP tolerating Jezebel spirit". I got attracted to this title because it was on a scripture that I have been studying on the past couple days. Few minutes into listening it, I heard a gently voice which I believe is the Holy Spirit saying,
"Silence is consent".While I pondered on what this could mean, He further explained,
"Every time I hear a message by anyone and I don't immediately or thereafter put it to light with the Word of God or come to Him for illumination, I am unknowingly consenting to or agreeing with that message whether false or true".In other words, I have received the seed of that message. I have consented or agreed to it because I left it unchallenged in my mind. It will eventually grow in my mind and be established if I don't remove or uproot it. The longer I wait, the harder it will become and most times this is a subliminal consent. We don't have to consciously say I agree but just the fact that we did not question or disprove it, we have giving it permission to take root.
Every principle that guides a man's life is some sort of truth to that person. But if the truth in you be darkness, how great is that darkness - Matt 6:23. The only thing that can displace falsehood in a man is the entrance of truth. The only thing that can challenge a lesser truth is a greater truth. Once truth enters, falsehood has to exit. They can't co-inhabit just like light and darkness cannot cohabit.
The Word of God is the Truth - John 17:17. Only the Word of God can uproot any falsehood we hold in our minds as truth because it is still remains the ONLY source of Truth.
He said to me,
"If I am not ready to search out the scripture or prove this message I am about to listen to in the light of the Truth", then I should not bother listening or reading it.Do not take any mans teaching of the truth unchecked. Any mans teaching that is not checked to God's Word will sooner become detrimental to the hearer. Man, despite how great and good they are or how lofty their words may be, is still fallible. Only God is infallible.
This is the reason, the Spirit of God in the scriptures endorsed the Berea church by saying that,
"These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so" - Acts 17:11In other words, this church was singled out by the Holy Spirit because they did not accept any mans teaching at face value even if that man was Apostle Paul whose deep revelations received directly from God gave us over 70% of the new testament. They searched out the scriptures daily and put Paul's word to the light of Gods word before accepting anything.
I strongly believe the Holy Spirit would not have included this truth if it was not necessary. He did so because he expects every true child of God to follow the same pattern.
"For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope." - Romans 15:4
The neglect of this exercise of comparing what we hear to God's word has been the reason for the unfettered influx of falsehood rampaging the church today.
It was only while men slept that the enemy was able to sow tares. - Matt 13:25. Sleeping is spiritual laziness.
We must wake up and stay on the watch even more so now as the hour draws near.
Let us take note and make the proper adjustment to our faith walk that we might run effectively.
